Scattered Suns
The Saga of Seven Suns, No. 4

by Kevin J. Anderson

Kevin J. Anderson continues his series, The Saga of Seven Suns, in his latest book, Scattered Suns. In Horizon Storms, the battle between the hydrogues and the humans continues and expands to include three new races. Also being attacked by the mysterious hydrogues are the faeros, the verdani and the wentals. The faeros are fiery creatures who live inside a burning sun. The hydrogues are creatures that live inside gas giants and whose weapons are jagged icicles that freeze everything, even putting out the fires of a living sun. The verdani, whose remnants comprise the worldforest of Theroc, are expanding to other worlds now, growing their numbers so that they can drive out the hydrogues. The wentals are water-based and also comprise a single mind, just as the verdani do.

As the wentals and verdani grow their numbers, they grow their ability to fight off the hydrogues. While these ancient lifeforms prepare for a lengthy battle against their ancient enemy, so the humans have found a way to fight back against these new enemies. They also find Orli Covitz, who tells the Hansa of the treachery of the Klikiss robots. Chairman Wenceslas continues his descent into madness, something everyone is beginning to notice. And King Peter and Queen Estarra have a secret that they know they cannot hide much longer from Basil Wenceslas.

Once again, the story is fragmented as the individual story lines of the prominent characters are followed. Once again, they all weave together to form the whole of the story. This book picks up the pace as the story spirals to its end. Pick up a copy of Scattered Suns, and delve again into the realm of the seven suns.
