State of Fear

by Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton is back with another scientific thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. State of Fear examines how fear of something will drive people to do unreasonable things, quite often in the name of science. In this story, a young physicist in Paris shows off a scientific experiment to a beautiful young woman. He follows her back to her apartment, where he is subsequently assaulted and murdered.

How was this to affect the life of a young attorney, Peter Evans? Though he did not know the young man in question, the death of the young physicist and the purchase of cavitation technology by a mysterious environmental group will send Peter Evans on the thrill ride of his life.

When Evans' employer, George Morton, dies, Evans' life is turned upside down. First, his apartment is broken into as is Morton's home, and the apartments of all his employees. The places were entirely ransacked, because someone was looking for something. What, Evans had no idea. He went to Morton's home to see if he could locate something that someone might be interested in, enough to ransack several houses. As soon as he located a paper under the Buddha, he and Sarah, another employee, were assaulted.

However, intelligence agent John Kenner came to the rescue. Then, Kenner, Evans, and Sarah began to search in earnest for anything their employer might have left behind. What they found would take them on a journey all around the world, beginning in Antarctica and ending in the Solomon Islands. It's an adventure Evans will never forget. Performed by John Bedford Lloyd, State of Fear will keep you on the edge of your seat. Pick up a copy and enjoy.
