Princess At Sea
Second book in the Tess series
by Dawn Cook
Tess is back, fresh from her adventures in the series debut The Decoy Princess (also reviewed on this site)
and aboard The Sandpiper. She is now the new ambassador to Misdev, as well as the secret apprentice of
master player, Chancellor Kavenlow. Princess Contessa and her new husband, Prince Alex, are on their honeymoon but
are not a happy couple. It is up to Tess to try and calm things down. When the "friendly" ship whose crew they
invite aboard turn out to be pirates, Tess has to try and save the situation before war erupts between
Costenopolie and Misdev.
Another fun and highly readable tale from Dawn Cook, with Tess telling her story of pirate capture, thwarted
love and venomous magic. It is an exciting tale with plenty of action as well as romance that will surely appeal
to readers of romantic novels as much as to those who read fantasy. Once again at the end there are plenty of
loose ends and the final book ought to contain even more to enjoy. Although the books need to be read in order
and are all part of a whole this is not a trilogy in the Tolkein sense of the term, as each book contains a
separate complete story. The author has not got ahaving hellcat Tess fighting against alpha male Jeck out of her
system, and at times this can be rather tedious; but this aside, this is one enjoyable book. |
