The Conrad Chronicles: Revolt
1st in a series

by Heather Hobson

The Conrad Chronicles: Revolt, the first in a new science fiction series by Heather Hobson, is a detailed account of the outcasts of the planet Karna. They have settled on a new world, Aleron, and raised their children, building a community of peace, away from any industrialization, which they think was bound to destroy their home world. In this idyllic setting, one of the children, Xavier, learns the reason why they were exiled: they were different; they had mental and psychic powers and were feared by their fellow humans. Thus begins Xavier's quest for revenge and his growing desire to conquer not only Karna but the world. Whatever the side they are on, Xavier's or the side of peace, all of the Aleron children rediscover the ancient technical knowledge and temper it with their innate paranormal abilities. Xavier and his followers go out into space to find the ancient planet of Karna, and Gloria, the daughter of the current leader, and her companions speed after him, hoping to stop him.

Hobson has created an epic space drama that doesn't end with this first book. It is rich with characters that the reader can love and hate and has enough action for any Star Wars fan. The science is understandable and the paranormal abilities are fresh and new. The ending is unexpected and satisfying without being predictable or saccharin.

I can't wait until Hobson gifts the world with the next installment.
