Swimming Without a Net
Fred the Mermaid, Book 2
by Mary Janice Davidson
Swimming Without a Net was the cutest book I have ever read. I didn’t want to put it down. Fredrika Bimm
is part human and part mermaid. While out of the water, she possesses the coloring of a mermaid, and she is able
to hide her tail, fins and scales when she wants to. While in the water, she is mermaid with a few limitations.
"Fred," as she is called by her biped (human) friends, is a marine biologist working for a non-profit aquarium.
She loves her job, and she loves the human aspect of her life.
Out of the blue, she gets a visit from two mermaids. It seems the king of the Undersea Folk (mermaids to you
and me) is summoning her to a pelagic, which is a meeting of all the Undersea Folk. She is a bit surprised and
unsure why she is being summoned to such a traditional and private gathering. She decides to go to find out,
taking her biped best friend, Jonas, with her as moral support.
So off they fly, because Fred doesn’t think she can make it to the Cayman Islands swimming, one of her
limitations. When they reach the Caymans, they are the only people there it seems, or are they? Can’t tell you
any more here, it would ruin this very humorous and fun fantasy!
Would I recommend reading this book? You betcha! But read the first book first, which is called
Sleeping with the Fishes, then continue with the saga of Fredrika. Enjoy, as I did! |
