Thrive
A Woman's Guide to a Healthy Lifestyle
By Carrie Carter, MD

This is a book written about the top woman's health issues. Dr. Carrie Hunter approaches the subject with a Christian world view and her suggestions are both readable and doable.

Dr. Carter begins her book with the topic of stress, a subject many women face on a daily basis, saying that she herself often prays for relief from stress, and uses her own solutions for stress relief, but still feels the strain.

One good suggestion for coping with stress is to use the power of positive thinking. She discusses the different types of personalities and how each one deals with stress. Her catch phrase is: "You must de-stress before you distress." She also discusses the importance of proper nutrition and breaks it down into twelve easy steps, with many valuable and easy-to-use tables.

Dr. Hunter also covers weight gain and loss. Not only diet, but also how to feel good about oneself and accept yourself as you are. Exercise is discussed and why we dislike it so much.

An important chapter covers health-screening tests that women need. She talks about each test individually and includes a wonderful table covering the test, what age you should be and how often the test is necessary.

The pleasant thing about this book is the fact that Dr. Hunter fits her belief in Christ and her Christian thinking into the book without being preachy.
