Get a Grip!
Overcoming Stress and Thriving in the Workplace

By Bob Losyk

Get a Grip! : Overcoming Stress and Thriving in the Workplace could not have come at a better time in my life. Before I opened up this book, I never realized how much time I was devoting to work and other outside activities. A normal work week for me consists of working a full-time 40-hour-a-week job and a part-time 20-hour-a-week job. Also, I am in the process of going back to college for my Masters degree in Adult Education. In addition, I am a volunteer book reviewer for a world renown magazine and Internet site. As I sit here and look at all that I am involved with, I feel that I am a prime candidate for job burnout. I knew, after reading this book, that it was time to cut back, for the signs of stress were slowly creeping into each of my days.

Get a Grip! : Overcoming Stress and Thriving in the Workplace gave me an eye-opening experience as I completed the burnout assessment. I was amazed at my relatively high score. I knew it was time for me to step back and reassess all that I was involved in and ask myself which one had the most important aspect to the overall joy of my life. There were things that I had to let go, no matter as painful as it was. I knew it was for my own good. I knew if I continued to travel down that 180-mph day, I was going to do serious harm to my health.

There were many things that I learned as I read this book. One of the most inspiring things I found was my introduction to the power of mediation and exercise. I'm happy to say because of this book I joined a health club, and three times a week I incorporate an exercise routine into my life. One of my favorite classes is Pilates. Without this book, I would not know what it was or what benefits it offered.

This book is filled with many high energy activities that will have you looking at the world in a different light. It provides you with tips on healthy nutrition that will increase your mental and physical well-being. In addition if offers fifty quick ideas for getting a grip on stress-NOW!
