Straighter, Stronger, Leaner, Longer
by Renee Daniels with Janice Billingsley
Renee Daniels, a former Alvin Alley dancer, faced a severe back injury and decided to become
a medical exercise and a personal trainer in New York City. She has developed an exercise
program that focuses on strengthening, stretching, and relieving pain in the body. She
uses her medical training and incorporates it into the explanations for why the certain
exercises are done. She is able to clearly explain her points using simple terms that
anyone could understand.
Ms. Daniels explains how everyday misuse of our muscles can and usually does cause pain
later on in life and how to slowly try to correct it. She uses client examples of how a
client comes in with certain pains, discusses their daily life (i.e. how much time they
are sitting in front of the computer), and then helps them go through exercises to help
ease the pain and help bring their bodies back to their natural position.
Straighter, Stronger, Leaner, Longer provides clear pictures on how to do the
stretching exercises that Ms. Daniels recommends. The pictures are divided into the sections
where certain muscle groups are discussed. |
