The Subconscious Diet
by Hugh Sanders
First, let me say that I didn't lose any weight by using The Subconscious Diet and
that it was not the fault of the author or of the method. The most important thing I
learned here is that if you don't really want to do something you will not be able to
do it, and frankly, I have bigger issues than losing weight, so I didn't drive myself
crazy with it.
However, I did apply the method of affirmations and visualization to other facets of
my life and I have seen what I consider reasonable change. I am writing this review at
the three-week mark and have fine-tuned my goals several times as I am still on the learning
curve. I have also had to revise my affirmations because they weren't quite right. For
example, the first week I said, "I will be awake by 7 a.m." and I set my alarm for 6:45.
Anybody who knows me will realize this is a considerable goal. After the first few days
I woke up with the alarm clock, but by 7:10 I was back to sleep. The second week I realized
that I had to change that affirmation to "I will be out of bed by 7 a.m." and add a second
one about resting while I sleep. I am still working on the process of winding down at
night.
The Subconscious Diet provides me with a piece of the puzzle I have been missing:
how. How to tell if I am succeeding, how to tell if I am not succeeding, how to
formulate goals and the mental tools to succeed, and how to decide where I want to concentrate
my efforts. Most of the books that have discussed these methods have come up short in
translating "just do it" into "here's how to change." The worksheets will be indispensable
at various stages of the journey, not just the beginning. They dare to ask you to think
about why you are not at your best, which one day for me will be why I haven't lost the
weight; all things in their turn.
Written in upbeat language and filled with inspirational thoughts, you will return
to the pages of The Subconscious Diet again and again as you become all that you
were intended to be! |
