Calorie Queens
Living Thin in a Fat World
by Jackie Scott and Diane Scott Kellum with Brett A. Scott, MD
Mother Jackie Scott and her daughter Diane Scott Kellum have written one of the most practical
books on dieting ever. Like dieticians have been saying for years, these writers reaffirm the
mantra that calories do count. They, however, have devised a simple way to use calories
effectively to lose unwanted pounds. Instead of going on a 1000 calorie once-size-fits-all
diet, they help readers determine their true ideal weights and then what number of calories
to eat to reach that goal. But the trick here is to eat the number of calories that the
person with the ideal weight would need to eat to maintain that weight every day. It's a
radical new concept that often has a dieter eating more calories than she would think and
enjoying every one of them.
It also keeps the person in positive mode. If you keep in mind that you are eating
the number of calories that a thin person eats, that is pure motivation. You're that much
closer to being a thin person.
Jackie Scott delivers her information with wit and a wonderful sense of humor. It is as
if she is sitting in your kitchen telling you about her life and giving you advice.
Calorie Queens: Living Thin in a Fat World is a great read for anyone looking to
lose a few pounds. The last half of the book is the program: twenty-eight days of menus,
recipes, and guides for snacks, beverages, and fast foods. Yes, I did say fast food. You
can eat chips and all of your favorites as part of a healthy diet. |
