The No Sweat Exercise Plan
A Harvard Medical School Book
by Harvey B. Simon, M.D.
This straightforward and interesting book was an easy read. With simple modifications
and doing every day activities, the average person can get fit and healthy. It was great
to learn that I don't have to spend hours on a treadmill to get fit, but that doing little
things can have good benefits. If you don't always have time to head to the gym or work
out for hours, this book has great information to get you motivated and in shape. The
Cardiometablic Exercise (CME) Point System that is discussed in chapter four is important
and the basis of this plan. The charts are useful and are where you can compare and assess
the differences in doing "Recreational Activities", from Aerobics to Yoga and "Daily Activities",
from Animal Care to Vacuuming. By using this information, you can customize a plan that
will work for you.
The No Sweat Exercise Plan is a great resource to have if you are someone trying
to get in shape, lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle. I found the twenty guidelines
in chapter eleven to be extremely helpful when planning my meals. In this time of low-carb
and no-fat diets, it is nice to see a book point out that eating healthy, is well, healthy. |
