Self-Healing With Sound and Music
Revitalize your body & mind with proven sound healing tools
by Andrew Weil, M.D. & Kimba Arem
There is no doubt that music has the power to influence our moods, but it is also a fairly well accepted fact
that sound has a powerful effect on our brains and bodies, as well. Self-Healing with Sound & Music is a
charming and affordable opportunity to learn more about the ancient technique of sound healing and to experience
the results for yourself.
The first disc in this two CD set is an introduction to and explanation of sound healing, presented by Dr.
Andrew Weil and Kimba Arem. Weil is a Harvard Med School grad with an impressive list of credentials including
Director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Clearly a well-trained physician,
he also has enough common sense to explore all possible healing methods and his experience has led him to the
strong belief that natural, preventive medicine is most effective.
Kimba Arem is a musician with classical background, and also holds a B.S. degree in molecular and cellular
biology from the University of Arizona. The combination of these two fields led her to sound therapy and
experimentation with the binaural beat technology used in this program.
Developed by the Monroe Institute in Virginia, known for its research into human consciousness, binaural
beats are a used for synchronizing activity of the brain’s two hemispheres using audio. A binaural beat is not a
sound, but rather it is the difference in frequency between two sounds. For instance, if one sound has a
frequency of 410 Hz and another has a frequency of 425 Hz, the difference is 15 Hz. Brainwaves tend to align
themselves with this difference.
The second of these two CDs is ideal accompaniment for relaxation, meditation, yoga, or visualization exercise.
Arem’s musical composition guides the listener through stages of relaxation and awareness with graceful transitions,
incorporating a variety of instruments and musical styles. It has become a staple of my meditation ritual, and many
of my friends can expect to receive their own copies of this program as holiday gifts. |
