Though most people assume that the ancient Mayans predicted the end of the world on December 21, 2012, Jenkins explains that this date signifies the end of an age, not the destruction of the world. According to Jenkins, as we draw nearer to the cosmic alignment of 2012 as foretold by the Maya, we need to understand that changes in consciousness will occur with this new age.

His voice is pleasant to listen to as he lectures. Yet it is less like him teaching in a classroom, and more like him sitting in your living room discussing his ideas with a group of eager learners.
