Both Sides of Time is the first book of Cooney’s Time Travel Series.

Annie Lockwood has always been a romantic. Her boyfriend, Sean, on the other hand, would rather work on his many cars than hold hands. When she goes to the Mansion to visit him, ASL (Sean uses letters for everything including her name) finds herself experiencing a strange feeling of  “falling”. She finds herself being “sucked” into another world. Well, not so much another world, but another time.

Strat, who’s full name is Hiram Straton, is the heir of the Mansion. He discovers a ghost wandering around the mansion. The ghost, who turns out to be Annie, entrances Strat in a way he’s never known. The question is, is Annie willing to stay with him, the hopeless romantic who would do anything to make her happy, or would she go back to her car-loving, alphabet using boyfriend who is now worried about her?

This book is a great read for any teenager who has ever been fascinated by the way of life in the 19th century and is a hopeless romantic. I absolutely loved the descriptions of the massive mansion and the clothing that was worn in the 1890s. It’s a wonderful romance that will make anyone want to curl up in front of the fireplace with it and read into the wee hours of the night.
