Not only fantasy comes in trilogies - here two stalwart Buffy writers have come up with an action-packed tale of a mysterious cult that wants the world to end and chaos to replace it so they can reign as kings under evil centuries-old wizard Fulcanelli. On the side of the Angels is the Guardian who has the grim task of making sure that all the fantastic creatures that don't belong in our world or in Hell such as unicorns, The Flying Dutchman, the Kraken and fairies all stay within its walls. But the young heir has been kidnapped and must be found so he can inherit the house and its powers before his ancient father dies. Buffy and her friends are pitted against some awesome foes, go on a long trip to Europe via the Ghost Roads to beard the evil wizard in his Italian den…

…Which makes for a good lively tale that could have easily been contained in one slightly-longer-than-usual novel. Put into three books it seems a bit stretched but if you like the series it is a good addition to the canon of titles. Xander gets to do some brave and useful things, Giles gets to fall in love again and imagination runs happily riot.
