This is the third and final part of the first crossover story which links up both Buffy and Angel, both of whom (not forgetting Spike) have gone forth into another dimension to battle dragons and other fantasy creatures and find the missing teenagers before it is too late. Meanwhile, back home gang warfare is reaching horrific new heights in LA and monsters stalk the streets of Sunnydale (more monsters than usual that is). Can Alina find a way of fixing the diabolical Tracer, and free her new friends without her parents using it to restore Russia to its Communist status?

As usual there is lots of action here and almost - but not quite - enough plot to actually fill a whole trilogy. There are Mexican gangs, shady Russian scientists, wannabe vampires, vanishing teenagers and alternate realities where anything might be possible and at times it seems as if there is too much material and the wrong parts are being brought to the fore. It might have been an idea to have explored some of the other realities a bit more rather than just thought about doing it - but maybe that is the plot for another book! The whole story could have fitted into one fatter-than-usual volume but then a lot of the banter that makes the show entertaining might have been lost.worth a read if you are a fan of the series.
