Confessions of a Teen Nanny

by Victoria Ashton

Confessions of a Teen Nanny focuses on two teen girls who are after-school nannies for the extremely wealthy of Fifth Avenue. As one would expect from the extremely wealthy (in a novel), the parents care not a whit for their children and desire only for them to stay out of sight and quiet - dads are mere ghost figures and moms are social climbers with delusions of motherhood who find actual children a bit too tiresome to be around. One of the two main characters, Adrienne, is a bright girl from an upper middle class family - well, the author tells us that she's bright. She doesn't always do bright things though and finds herself skillfully manipulated by her charge's ultra conniving big sister (the required evil rich teen.) The plot is a bit convoluted but mostly involves showing us that even moral, smart girls do stupid wrong things - but (thankfully) they can be rescued by little rich children. Okay, I admit it, I didn't like this book much and the ending smacked just a bit of - oh, my gosh, I've gotten them into so much trouble now what do I do? Oh I know; I'll just make it all go away. But, for teen girls who dream of basking in a little wealth and having really hot clothes - I predict this book will be totally awesome. It offers fashion, cattiness, and even some truly funny lines. With a mix like that - plot is only the icing anyway.
