Down
the Rabbit Hole
An
Echo Falls Mystery
By Peter
Abrahams
Read by Mandy Siegfried
Ingrid
Levin-Hill is thirteen. She lives an active, full life, as does her
family. Her dad works in money, her mother in real estate. Her brother
is a typical teen who isn't as irritating as most brothers. Ingrid
is into soccer, acting, and loves her granddad. Life is good until...
Ingrid
decides to run to soccer practice but finds she doesn't know her
hometown as well as Sherlock Holmes knows London. She ends up in
the wrong area of town and crosses paths with Crazy Kate, a woman
who later becomes a murder victim. Ingrid eventually realizes her
pumas are missing and they have her name in them. She decides to
take some pointers from Sherlock Holmes as she tries to recover
her shoes from Kate's house and solve who killed Crazy Kate. In
the process, she rediscovers Joey, the Chief's son, who isn't as
chubby or shy as he use to be.
Peter
Abrahms brings young readers an adventurous mystery. In Down
the Rabbit Hole, he introduces them to his new teenage sleuth
and the works of Sherlock Holmes. Ingrid is a character who stands
on her own. She reminds me of the lead characters in the Babysitter
Club series. It's Disney meets Mystery! Let's hope there's more
to come.
Mandy
Siegfried reads Ingrid's first adventure. She does a superb job
of meeting the kids on their level and entertaining them throughout.
