Aunt
Ruby believes that J.R. is a philanderer, but is her aunt being
overly critical? He seems so cheerful and acts like his flirting
is all in innocence. Linda becomes involved with school activities
and begins to make new friends, but the conflict at home is emotionally
draining, and Linda becomes more confused. She just doesn't know
how to handle the problems that confront her.
This
novel is a great departure from Evelyn's previous series about Jeannie,
A Texas Frontier Girl, written for younger girls. This story
is more mature and might help teens deal with sexual harassment
in their own lives.
The
characters are very sympathetic and memorable with a fast moving
plot and an easy-to-read style that will have you laughing and crying
as you share Linda's coming of age story. Keep up the good work,
Evelyn. Your stories are so inspiring!
