Witch Dreams
by Vivian Vande Velde
Sixteen-year-old Nyssa considers herself witless - after all, that's one of the last things
her father ever said to her. Right after calling her a witch - a charge that can get a girl
dead very quickly. Instead, Nyssa's mother and father died, and the murderer remains unknown.
Though Nyssa thinks she knows, and she plans to use her bespelling ability to see into the
dreams of others to find proof. This book is part murder mystery, part paranormal thriller
and has the fast pace and high tension that fans of Vivian Vande Velde have come to expect.
The plot of Witch Dreams has more twists than a roller coaster and just about as
much speed. Just when you think you totally know what's coming next, Vande Velde serves
you something different. But it's never a cheating twist - each revelation leaves you feeling
that's exactly where the plot was meant to go. Though the resolution comes a bit slicker
than I would absolutely have wished for - it still resulted in a satisfying story and
one that will delight teen readers. |
