I can't resist another book about writing, and while the author does discuss the nuts and bolts of writing basics along with polishing and marketing your manuscript, it is more about how to get your creative juices flowing.

Smith's book is loaded with ideas to help you tap into your own creative genius with checklists, charts, exercises and puzzles. I found the exercises particularly helpful. After completing some of the "List ten things" type of exercises, I was beginning to generate some new ideas and real enthusiasm.

Not every idea for jump-starting your creativity will work for everyone, but there are plenty of ideas that will work for you. You can't wait for the impulse to strike; whatever your level, beginner or experienced, if you are serious about writing, you must write whether you are in the mood or not. The ideas in this book will work as warm-up exercises and help you to get going.

You can read the book straight through, but I found it more helpful to browse, and pick and choose among the ideas for the particular help I needed. It is well worth the money.
