This is a compilation of information of approximately 300 authors who share their marketing
ideas. It has a lot of good tips in it-some new, and some that have been "around the block."
Still, for a new author, they might all be new, and they are certainly worth putting them
to the test.
Ms. Silverman, in the introduction, says "This book grew out of the
on-line newsletter I began in March 2003: Book
Promotion Newsletter... Until recently, no guidance existed
on what to do after publication. Today there are a handful
of book marketing gurus who were wise enough to carve a niche early
on."
Personally, I have a problem with anthologies. Not just this one, but anthologies in
general. It somehow seems unfair to me that the "editor" gets all the credit for using
other people's hard work. I happen to know (cyberly speaking) many of the contributors to
Book Marketing from A-Z. One of them in particular, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, has
her own book, Frugal Marketing: What Your Publisher Won't Do. I found much more
helpful information in Ms. Howard-Johnson's book than I did in this one.
Perhaps the biggest problem I had was the fact that the book had no index, which made it
very hard to find what you were looking for. I don't like to have to make my own index
when I find something worthwhile.
Good for the newly-published author. Overall, contains good advice.
