As an unpublished writer, I was excited to read Stephen King's memoir. I have been a fan of his work for years and his straightforward attitude towards writing makes this book a great piece of advice, tips and at the same time gives you insight to the author's life, thoughts and work habits.

The book is divided into sections; the first half is a super autobiography. He delves into his childhood, first writing attempts, and his illustrious career. Then the tips, hints and advice are next. He offers sound advice on writing what you feel, editing, rewriting, and more. Lastly, he discusses the accident that almost ended his life and career before listing some of the books he has enjoyed the most. I picked the book up for the second time last night and again read it from cover to end in one sitting. Guaranteed to bring some giggles, some 'I never knew that', and the feeling at the end that he could be the guy next door. I highly recommend this book for writers and fans!
