Three months have passed and
American writer Eden Elliott is still enjoying Scotland. Eden
is ready to start her second romance titled Hooked on
You and take on a special assignment, but first she has
to help with a sheepdog trial on the MacBride farm, as well
as a fundraiser and Vicki’s skein-of-the-month club.
Eden referees Vicki and her bitter half-sister in an argument
about the yarn club and Eden, herself, tries not to assault
Isla, the volunteer coordinator, when Detective Inspector
Kevin Jamieson and Special Constable Sean Stevens arrive.
While SC Stevens seeks out Vicki, DI Jamieson takes Eden for
a walk. Sean is heading to the Scottish Police College and
the DI needs a volunteer to take his place. He wants someone
who knows him well; someone he can tolerate.
Look out Glenkillen, Eden Elliott has been sworn in as the
local special constable (in name only) and she’s armed
– with a card and pepper spray. SC Eden’s first
job is solving a murder. Isla has given her final insult.
Someone did her in, and the murder weapon is the handspun,
hand-dyed red yarn from one of Vicki’s skein-of-the-month
kits. These two just can’t stay out of trouble. It’s
like a Scottish version of Lucy and Ethel.
Hooked on Ewe is a shining follow up to Off
Kilter. Eden is enjoying her life in the Highlands, working
on her novels at the Kilt & Thistle, gaining new friends,
learning new Scottish sayings (even the insulting ones) and
spending time with Leith (the single, blued-eyed Scotsman).
But what I think she enjoys most is sleuthing with DI Jamison.
Readers will find Hooked on Ewe is a mystery full
of twists and turns and eclectic characters. A must read.
