Jillian Hart is
helping out getting the feral cats that call the Lorraine
Stanley Textile Mill home relocated to a safer place. In addition
to finding an uncountable number of cats, they find a woman
named Jeannie living in the abandoned mill. She is wearing
rags and is surrounded by spoiled food. She is only concerned
about her cat Boots.
Jillian soon gets her friend Deputy Candace
Carson on the case. It seems that a Clara Jean Sloan disappeared
years ago after her daughter Kay Ellen left home without taking
any of her possessions -including her beloved cat. A second
visit to the mill results in taking Jeannie to the hospital
with a possible broken hip. Dustin Gray the structural engineer
on the job discovers some bones in the old fireplace in the
room that Jeannie has been living in.
Things to ponder: How long has Jeannie been
living at the old mill? Whose body did they find in the fireplace?
Has Jillian really been helped in solving this crime with
the aid of a ghost cat? What other secrets does the old mill
hold?
Leann
Sweeney has written another well plotted page turner. I loved
this book. I enjoy a good mystery that features my furry favorites
as well as quirky characters. Jillian is such a loving character
that you can't help getting drawn into her life and wish that
you could help her solve the problems she encounters. So if
you enjoy mysteries that feature adorable cats, then The
Cat, The Mill and the Murder is a book you should read.
